I don’t usually put a whole lot of stock in the theroy that Orbs are evidence of somthing paranormal happening. I mean they might be somtimes, but as a rule not so much. Of course, I know that there are a lot of ghost hunters and paranormal investigators out there who do see orbs in this way. Not as illuminated dust particles, but as spirts in the early stages of manifestation.
Well if they are right about that than my ring doorbell camera can not only alert me to the arrival of the mailman, or go off anytime a truck drives by. It can also record visitors from the spirt realm!
My Ring Doorbell Captures Orbs
I actually had forgotten all about it until today when I was going through some old files on my computer and I came across this odd little clip my doorbell camera caught. I saved it because it was a pretty strange incident and I thought it would be definitely worth rewatching.(Or useful in marketing my home as a legitimate haunted house to rich weirdos)
This was recorded back on November 26th of 2019. Oh, those glorious pre Coronavirus days, when we were blissfully unaware of mandatory lockdowns, facemasks, social distancing and murder hornets. You know the good old days.
Anyway it was 9:36pm and I was in the family room with my wife watching TV when our ring notifications went off, than we both heard one single knock on the door. Well I got up (being the man of the house means its my job to answer the door after dark).
Anyway there wasn’t anybody around and I thought thats weird I know I heard a knock on the door. So I pulled up the video and watched it . My wife and I both got the goosebumps seeing the “orb” make for our front door. Belive it or not even though I am basically pretty skeptical it still doesn’t stop me from being a scaredy cat.
I couldn’t quite explain it especially the knocking sound, so I turned to the internet. Research video doorbell orbs and you will get a lot of hits on Google. But most of them seemed a lot easier to explain than mine.
Like this one. It is clearly moisture. I watched the video and the orb doesn’t fly to the front door and knock to come in.
To me this looks like dust or a tiny water droplet reflecting infra red light back into the camera lens, it is way too close to be in focus. So the lens sees an out-of-focus point of light as a ‘circle of confusion. A video artifact.
Are Orbs Ever Paranormal?
The Paranormal Investagators of Milwaukee have done a lot of very fine research on this topic. They explain that there are microscopic things floating in the air all the time, we just can’t see them. Things like dead skin cells, animal dander, and textile particles are suspended in the air. When the flash from a camera catches these particles just right, the light reflects back out of focus and creates the ball of light that we see. That would explain why we don’t see these things with our naked eye. And raises the question if any orb is ever even supernatural.
Some times bugs and insects are the culprits behind orbs. These orbs are sometimes harder to debunk and are usually brighter due to the higher density of insects compared to dust. Many times they are flying and thus a moving orb is created.
Insects are a great candidate for my Orbs but there is still somthing bothering me. It was late November and we don’t usually see bugs that time of year where we live. And than there was that damn knock.
Anyway I don’t know what I captured. I probably never will be 100 percent sure on way or the other. The only thing I am certain of is that sometimes your video doorbell camera will capture things that you might not really want to see.
